I have a new 6-core PC with Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 to be used for video editing. Apart from Windows 7 Professional plus included applications and the component drivers, no other programs have been installed. After installing 2 discs for CS5 Production Premium successfully, the 3rd disc installed to 99% complete, then a message requested that Internet Explorer must be closed in order to complete the installation. In fact, after checking several times, Internet Explorer was not open. I tried to trouble shoot the problem with no success then shut down the PC. After restarting the computer a message showed CS5 failed to complete with the following recommendation:
1. Restart the PC
2. Exit all applications (startup, virus checkers, and firewall)
3. Launch installer and reinstall applications
then Exit code: 24
0 fatal errors, 3 errors, 2 warnings
I hesitate to disable all protection to reinstall unless I can remove the Internet connection. I tried to uninstall CS5 through Control Panel to enable a clean reinstallation but that resulted in the same Internet Explorer must be closed before proceeding. I have completed a full scan with Malwarebytes. No malware was detected. Device Manager shows no problems.
Should I proceed with steps 1. 2. and 3. after disconnecting the Internet from the PC, then reinstall the 3 CS5 discs over the first installation that I cannot remove? If not what should I do next?
