Thank you. I used Task Manager to terminate IE even though it did not show activity and there was a warning that if IE was active this might lead to an unstable system. The result was a frozen PC. I had to Stop and Start using the Power button to get the PC running again. This appears to have terminated any IE processes. I was then able to uninstall CS5. To avoid the freeze, I would probably have had to do a forced Stop/Start at the final stages of CS5 installation, however, I do not know if this would have allowed me to complete the CS5 installation after the forced Stop/Start. It appears that I will have to restart the PC before installing CS5 in future to be certain that IE is not running. I have never had to do this before or is this CS5 specific?
I have to use IE to download the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool after which I will Restart the PC again in case there is another IE problem. I have completed the Suite Cleaner Tool process and removed all remaining Adobe installed applications from the CS5 discs. Now I am into the reinstallation.
Do you mean by learning mode, the Safe Mode? If not, I have not been able to find learning mode in Windows help and I am unfamiliar with this.
In Safe Mode, the information I get on the Internet shows I need to add a line in the registry to enable uninstall/install programs in Windows 7. I have the recommended addition as an input in the Command line. It appears in Safe Mode, that disabling protection is not necessary. I looked at the Events Applications log for the approximate time I was having the install and uninstall problems that needs experience to decifer the information. One Warning relates to "your registry file is still in use by another application" or "Error 1730 that reqiures I log in as Administrator".
How do I know IE is not running if it has been closed and Task Manager shows no activity?
