Sounds like you are working with either Photoshop Elements or Photoshop Album. In either case, the files are not "in" the application. Rather, our programs are just keeping track of the files. They are on your hard drive. By default, we put them in your Pictures folder, which is why I asked about whether or not you've checked there yet.
